Welcome Back Readers!
The Alchemist, to be very honest with you I din’t even know the meaning of Alchemist earlier. I just did a small research (which I usually do before reading any book) and got this book as a suggestion so I decided to read this book, and after reading it, I realized the actual meaning of alchemist.
The literal meaning is a person who tries to change ordinary metal into gold, and according to me, a person who realizes her/his internal power and tries to change life for something big. It is basically a story of a boy who always listened to his heart and left every comfort just to make his dreams come true. The story will revolve around a common boy who fought against his own fate, his journey from a shepherd to the richest person, how he met people who helped him to reach to his treasure, while some who cheated on him and made him away from the treasure. How the adventurer learnt the language of world?

My Review:

This is the story of a boy named Santiago who was a shepherd and kept dreaming the same dream and was very curious to make it come true. In the introduction itself readers will feel connected with the boy. I got connected after reading only 20-25 pages, which happens rarely. He decided to follow his dream and he met a king in his path who directed him towards his own dreams, and from there the actual story begins. He started his journey by scarifying his sheep. In his very own journey he experiences love, friendship, money loss, learns language of world, struggles. On his journey, he met an old king who already knew his past, and he directed him towards the treasure in Egypt which he always dreamt about. His journey was full of adventures and lessons which life taught. He also met one Englishman who taught him what Alchemist mean and in the last phase of his journey he actually met The Alchemist who made him believe in himself, who convinced him to follow his dream, to obey his heart, even if he got caught in the tribal war of the desert, even if his hard earned money had been stolen. After crossing all the odds, finally he reached to his destination, but there also he got beaten by thief. After all struggle did he find his treasure?

What all things I liked about the book

  • Its narration is third person narration. The language is very simple, if you have very basic command on English then also it is good to go.
  • Lesser number of characters which leads to better understanding and less confusion.
  • At very initial phase of story, I felt emotionally very connected with the boy.
  • I even liked the narration pace as well and the way author has portrait the scenes.
  • Best part of this book is that this book can be considered as self help and at the same time you will get a flavor of thrill and adventure.
  • I liked the ending the most (very unexpected ending), some may get disappointed, but the ending has its very own meaning.
  • Also, the number of pages is very less, so one can enjoy thrill, suspense with less sweat.

What all things I disliked about it

  • Honestly, I really couldn’t figure out what I didn’t like. In fact, before writing I was thinking about it, but I couldn’t find one which is very rare.

Reason to read it

  • If you want to read self-help and adventure at the same, then it is made for you.
  • If you want to feel motivated and changed up, then please go for it.
  • Most important point, if you want to spend less time and want to learn more then, The Alchemist is for you which requires very less patience and focus to finish it up.

Any Reason to skip it
  • Honestly, I don’t have any. Any age group can go for it. It’s a great learning about life.
