Welcome Back Readers!
Summary:
Before I Go To Sleep
is a great thriller book and it has a great story that will keep the reader
engaged till the end.
We all know that we are what we have in our memories. Can you imagine, what
would happen if we lose our memory every time we go to sleep and cannot even
recall our name, our age, our identity and the people in our life?
So, this book is all
about the similar kind of behavior that the main character in this story has.
The story revolves
around three important characters, viz. Christine(the main character), who is
amnesiac patient and forgets almost everything after she wakes up in the
morning, Ben, Christine’s husband, and Dr. Nash, a neuropsychologist who had
heard about Christine through a case study in one of the lectures he had
attended, and was counselling Christine’s case. Christine used to forget
everything about her past life, every time she went to sleep. She cannot recall
about the person who she finds in her bed when she wakes up and she gets
shocked when she sees herself in the mirror and finds herself older that what
she was thinking of. This is how the story starts. Dr. Nash seems to be helping
her to get her memory back as much as possible, but he asks her not to share it
with Ben that they are meeting. Dr. Nash also suggests Christine to start
writing about her day in a journal so that she could refer it and recall at
least what she wrote. Dr. Nash also promises her to remind her every day that
she has to write or else she won’t even remember to write unless she finds her
journal because she had to hid it from her husband Ben as Nash had suggested
her. Then Christine recalls of her best friend, Claire, but she thinks of the
reason why they are not in touch now or why even her best friend is not
concerned if Christine has forgotten everything and why she not even tries to
contact Christine.
So, there are lots of
questions like
· What had happened to
Christine, which made her to be amnesiac patient who forgets everything after
she goes to sleep?
· Why is Christine’s
best friend not in touch with her or why does she not even tries to contact
Christine?
· Why does Dr. Nash ask
her not to tell Ben that they are meeting?
· Why is Dr. Nash even
trying to help Christine or is he just pretending to help?
If you want to know the answers to these
questions, then I suggest you to read the book: Before I Go To Sleep. Author
has explained each and every questions and that too in a beautiful way.
My Review:
Before I Go To Sleep is definitely a good thriller book which will keep the
suspense till end and would make reader engaged and it would not bore you. As
far as the writing and story is concerned, I loved the storyline and as it
has been mentioned at the end of the book that there could be lot of amnesiac patients
who actually go through this kind situation. It could be someone’s real life
story as well. It is so realistic and so relatable.
The most beautiful part that I liked about this book is the climax. Author has
so beautifully written it that it would keep you nerves looking to find out
what actually was the meaning of everything that has been mentioned in the
starting of the story in this book. Author has used easy to understand English.
What all things I liked about the book
·
All characters are beautifully portrayed, and the story has been
crafted very well.
·
Author has used simple English, so it will be easy to
understand.
·
The climax of this story.
What all things I
disliked about it
· The only thing that I disliked about this book was that I felt
that in the middle part of this book, few scenes have been mentioned in very
precise details, which could have been skipped.
Reason to read it
· If you like reading thriller books where the suspense is hold
until the end, and would make you eager to know about what would happen in the
next part, then you should read this book.
Any Reason to skip it
· Other than the part which I disliked, I wouldn’t say that there
is any reason to skip it. Alternatively, if you are someone who does not like
to read thriller books, then you may skip it.
